Address: Lungotevere Castello, 50, 00193 Roma
This castle was originally a mausoleum but is more associated with the arch angel Michael on top of the building raising his sword, marking the end of the epidemic of the plague. Now in modern time most people might associated this place to the Dan Brown movie Angels and demons, where the illuminati had his hide out.
It is close distance from Piazza Navona, so we decided to walk there crossing the main bridge St. Angelo’s bridge. While entering the bridge we had a really nice view of the castle and the surroundings. We decide not to visit the museum, as the kids started to be a bit cranky and tired after all the walking. Instead, we took a walk around the castle and enjoy the nice surroundings around the castle. Do I need to say, paused on a few benches on the way as well as the kids were tired of looking at building instead of playing around or eating an ice cream.
This place is in the middle of the Vatican City and piazza Navona so it is a perfect to stop in the middle. If you want to visit the museum just remembering, it’s closed on Mondays as many museums are in Italy.
