After finding all the information About the Colosseum and our trip was getting closer. It was time to decide where to buy the tickets, at site at the Colosseum or to buy them from home. After some discussion about the stress of standing in long ques of waiting with small kids, we decided to buy the tickets from home. This to make it as pleasant as possible for the whole family.
Said and done, we went online on the official webpage for the Colosseum and looked for which ticket would be the best option for us. We almost got a chock when we discovered that it was NOT many options left for when we would be in Rome. After a few minutes we decided to buy the tickets immediately, to be able to see it at all. I mean you can´t be in Rome and miss this place.
We ended up with a ticket valid for 24 hours that gives access to the Colosseum (not the arena and the underground), Palatine hill and Roman Forum. You could buy a 2 days ticket as well if you buy it long in advance before your trip. We did not have the option unfortunately to choose, and took what we could.

We looked the day after we bought the tickets and discovered that it was barley and left. What a feeling to realize that we might have missed the chance to see the Colosseum while visiting Rome. So I strongly recommend to book the tickets long in advance. This so you first of all will get a ticket, and second, have the possibility to choose the ticket that fits you best.
