Address: Salita del Pincio, 00187 Roma

This is not considered one of Rome’s 7 hills but it is worth a visit.

We found this nice terrace with a wonderful view all the way over to the Vatican and Rome´s historic center. We took a walk over to the Piazza del Popolo and noticed that is was many people up on a terrace and got curious. We found the way to get there in one of the end corners of the piazza. Get ready to climb the many stairs like over at the Spanish steps all the way to the top. We had just been over at the Spanish steps, so this day I think holds the record of how many stairs we climbed in one day so far.

From here you can continue to the garden that is filled with statues and busts. And don’t miss the water clock if you’re going with kids. Or why not rent one of the many family bikes and make little tour in the garden.

We decided to take a long brake on of many park benches in the park to rest our tired legs after all the stair climbing. Well rested, we continued to take a small walk in the park.

Pincio water clock

Who could have thought that you could find a water clock in the middle of Rome. We found information that this is a replica of a 19th century clocks that runs only on water. The kids love it and tried to understand how it works, how it was made, and why is it water in the clock.

The clock can be reached by the viale dei bambini from the pinicio terrace on the west end of the park.

How to get here by metro

Nearest stop is Flaminio, only 5 minutes walking to the entrance of the park. Another option is at the Spanish steps metro stop Spagna, and take a 10 minutes walk.
